Resurrection Part 2 Luke 24:13-48

November 23, 2025

Summary

That first resurrection morning was supposed to be a morning of victory.
Jesus had repeated again and again that on the third day He would rise.
Yet what do we find? The pillars of the Church hiding in fear, shattered in their faith, unable to grasp the very promise upon which everything rests.
The women went to the tomb expecting a corpse.
The apostles dismissed their testimony as “nonsense.”
And Luke tells us bluntly that the two disciples on the road to Emmaus walked with sadness written all over their faces.

It wasn’t just that they didn’t understand the Scriptures—their eyes were prevented from seeing.
The veil was still in place.
They were doing what so many still do today: grieving without hope, walking without clarity, talking about Jesus without recognizing Him.
But the risen Christ meets people right where they are—on dusty roads, in confusion, in unbelief, and in fear.
And in this passage we see something marvelous: Jesus patiently unfolds the Scriptures, restores crushed hope, opens blind eyes, and turns two discouraged disciples into joyful witnesses who cannot keep the news to themselves.
Today, as we trace this encounter on the road to Emmaus, we’re reminded that the resurrection is not just an event to be admired; it is a living reality that confronts unbelief, removes veils, and ignites hearts once again with the fire of God’s truth.
Luke takes us by the hand to show us what happens when Jesus comes alongside broken people and brings them life!
