Summary
This morning we journey to the quiet place between the Cross and the Resurrection — the time when all seemed lost, and yet redemption was being written in silence.
Luke tells us that Joseph of Arimathea took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in linen, and laid Him in a new tomb. To the world, it looked like the end. But prophecy had already whispered otherwise: “He was with a rich man in His death.” (Isaiah 53:9)
While His body rested in that borrowed tomb, His Spirit was at work — descending into Sheol, proclaiming victory, and preparing to lead captivity captive.
What men could not see, Heaven recorded: the Son of God storming the gates of Hades, holding the keys of Hades in His nail-pierced hands.
So today we’ll look not only at the burial, but at the unseen hours when Jesus was fulfilling prophecy, conquering death and the grave, and turning the darkness of Sheol into the doorway of Paradise.
