Hanukkah 2023

December 10, 2023

Summary

During the festival of Hanukkah, the lighting of the menorah holds profound significance that points to Jesus and the Church. The menorah, with its central light, the shamash, represents Jesus as the Light of the World, illuminating the darkness and bringing salvation.  The progressive lighting of the candles symbolizes the spreading of His light throughout the world through the Church. Hanukkah serves as a reminder for believers to rededicate themselves, their families, businesses, and churches to the Lord.  The miracle of the oil lasting eight days underscores the enduring presence and power of God in us through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  As we celebrate Hanukkah, it is a season not only to commemorate historical events but also to reflect on our commitment to the Lord, renewing our dedication to His purpose and spreading His light in every aspect of our lives.
