Summary
When people think about the God of the Old Testament, they often imagine a God who is quick to judge and eager to punish.
Yet nothing could be further from the truth.
The very first words God uses to describe Himself are that He is “compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth” (Exodus 34:6).
The prophet Ezekiel tells us that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but desires that they turn from their ways and live.
Peter reminds us that God is patient, “not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”
From Genesis to Revelation, we meet a God whose heart is full of love and mercy and grace.
