Summary
When was the last time you heard a sermon on the fear of God?
Not fear of circumstances.
Not fear of the future.
Not fear of judgment.
The fear of God?
For many Christians, the subject feels uncomfortable because we have become accustomed to hearing only about God’s love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness.
Those truths are glorious and essential!
But the same Bible that tells us God is love also repeatedly commands His people to fear Him.
In our culture, God’s name is mocked, His Word is ignored, and His authority is challenged.
Even within many churches, the fear of the Lord has been replaced with casual familiarity.
We speak of God as our Friend, but often forget that He is also the holy Creator of heaven and earth before whom angels cover their faces.
