Summary

We live in a world that cries out for justice—and yet, justice in this life often seems delayed or distorted.
But God’s Word gives us an unshakable truth: God will judge every person with perfect knowledge, perfect fairness, and perfect righteousness.
In Luke 20, Jesus is in the temple, confronting the religious elite—men who should have led people to God, but instead loved status and power.
He doesn’t just call them out—He delivers a sobering verdict:
“These will be judged my harshly than others.”.

Our God is not random, unfair, or indifferent.
He is perfectly just. He sees all. He knows all. And He will judge every person—not with a heavy hand, but with a holy heart.
To the unrepentant, His justice is exact. The more truth one rejects, the greater the accountability.
To the faithful, His reward is generous.
The more faithful one is with what God has given, the greater the eternal inheritance.

Just as not all faithfulness is equal, not all judgment is equal either.
There are degrees. Jesus is teaching us something profound—something consistent throughout Scripture:
There will be differing levels of reward for the faithful and differing levels of punishment for the wicked.
This is not a matter of works earning salvation—salvation is a gift by grace through faith in Christ.
But, what we do with that grace, how we respond to truth, and how we treat others—these things matter. Eternally.
Today, we’ll explore this sobering and inspiring theme:
God’s justice is not one-size-fits-all.
His reward is righteous. His punishment is proportional. And His heart is for us to live with an eternal perspective.
Let us listen closely to our text, because He is not only our Savior—He is also our Judge!
